The Malt

Harden, Bingley

After undergoing major refurbishment of £400,000, but whilst still keeping the original character of the building, The Malt has taken on a new look. It is a classic rural pub which is reputed to have been constructed in 1550. It has taken on many faces, including a court room and a prison, of which the famous cell room still exists. A new Orangery has been added, seating 33 people, and the beer garden has also been extended, seating 130 people. We have included a history room giving you all the information you will need to know about the Malt itself and the surrounding area.

We welcome all methods of transport making each and every person feel comfortable, with a hitching rail and trough to keep your horse happy and dog water bowls dotted inside and outside the pub.

We also have bike racks and, of course, a large car park. Enjoy a walk up Goit Stock which is just across the road, making us the perfect location to visit after an afternoon of walking / riding / cycling.

Stop off for a drink or a delicious meal and maybe sit beside one of the three open fires to take off the chill on a cold winter’s day.

Our homemade traditional food is served every day with our specials board changing weekly to add new variety to our menu.

Please come along and try out our beautiful Theakstons ales alongside our classic food. We will not disappoint!

Pickles Pubs

Traditional Pubs

Pickles Pubs is a family run business established in 2006. Our ethos is to build a portfolio of pubs that offer traditional food and drink, with exceptional service at reasonable prices.

We firmly believe there’s still a place for roaring open fires, good quality freshly cooked food and well-conditioned real ale in pubs, as opposed to cheap and cheerful or Gastro pricing.

We use local suppliers for both our food and ale, unless achieving quality dictates different. For example, our fish is sourced straight from the docks in Hull on a daily basis.

We want our customers to feel comfortable when visiting our pubs, even if its cosying up in front of the fire in your muddy boots after a long walk with the dog – everyone is welcome.

Take a look at our pubs, which currently reside across both the Aire and Wharfe Valleys.

A little update on where we all stand as of today, when we open again under stage four of re-opening from the Covid lockdowns 🙂

We all know the virus has not gone away and we want to keep you and our staff as safe as we can. We will therefore be keeping some of the previous guidance in place. Hopefully this handy little bullet-point list will help!

🍺 Masks will be optional for staff and customers - please respect each other's choices.

🍺 You can order and pay at the bar, but please don't linger! We are encouraging people to move away from the bar area once you have ordered, to help with distancing and minimise prolonged close contact with people from other groups.

🍺 Hand sanitiser will still be available at our entrance.

🍺 We will continue to clean the pub as carefully as we have done throughout the pandemic!

🍺 Our NHS QR code will still be available if you would like to check in.

🍺 Good ventilation is key - we will continue to keep windows and doors open as much as possible and our beer garden in tip-top condition so you can sit outside when the weather is kind.
